Baglamukhi Devi is golden-hued and worshipped for enemy paralysis, victory in disputes and legal protection. Learn her origin, form and sadhana.

The Form of Baglamukhi Mahavidya

Baglamukhi is the eighth of the ten Mahavidyas. The word "Bagla" derives from "Valga" meaning bridle or restraint. She is the goddess who paralyses the speech, intellect and power of enemies.

Her colour is yellow — yellow garments, yellow ornaments, yellow flowers. In her hands she holds a club with which she strikes the enemy's head while pulling his tongue.

The Legend of Her Origin

In Satya Yuga a terrible storm arose threatening to destroy all creation. The gods performed tapasya beside the Haridra Sarovara (the yellow lake) in Saurashtra. From there appeared Baglamukhi — golden-hued, seated on a yellow lotus — and she froze the storm in an instant.

Since then she is also known as "Brahmastra Vidya" — the ultimate weapon-knowledge.

Benefits of Baglamukhi Puja

Victory in court cases, paralysis of enemies, silencing of opponents, protection from conspiracies. Politicians, lawyers, businesspeople and those in competitive fields find this Vidya especially powerful.

The hawan uses yellow mustard seeds, yellow flowers and turmeric. A turmeric-bead mala is ideal for mantra japa.
